Visit 4 UNESCO monuments in 2 days

Marvel at a varied selection of architectural wonders, with some of the Czech Republic’s finest and most unique UNESCO sites.

1st day – Brno, Lednice–Valtice area
This full-day trip starts in the morning with a visit to a fine example of functionalist architecture – Villa Tugendhat, a UNESCO monument situated in Brno. This unique UNESCO World Heritage Site was designed by famous architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the early 20th century.

After the visit we will move to Lednice Chateau, which is part of the stunning Lednice–Valtice area and was once the property of the well-known European aristocratic family of the House of Liechtenstein. After visiting the castle, where you will learn the history of the building and its owners, we will walk through the castle garden, once referred to as the Garden of Europe. Our steps will lead us to the Minaret which was built as an oriental chateau with the minaret and its viewing tower. From the top of the minaret you can see 3 countries: which countries? Well, you will be shown while you are there. After about 2.5 hours we leave for Valtice, the capital of Czech wine. Here we will be ready for unlimited wine tasting in the cellars located in the Chateau of Valtice. During the half hour spent there you will be provided with an excellent opportunity to taste samples of the best Czech wines – winners of the National Wine competition.

Late afternoon return to Brno.

2nd day – Brno, Kroměříž, Olomouc
This full-day trip will take us to 2 Moravian towns, both inscribed on the UNESCO heritage list. The history of both towns is tightly bound with the Archdiocese of Olomouc. In Kroměříž, which acted as a summer residence for Olomouc bishops and archbishops, we will see the Archbishop Palace, where Milos Forman’s Oscar winning movie Amadeus was filmed, and 2 gardens – the castle garden and the Flower Garden. The Flower Garden, the most preserved garden of its kind in Europe, was the main reason for the listing of the town as a UNESCO monument. After learning about how bishops used to spend their leisure time we will drive to Olomouc, the official residence of the archbishops. In Olomouc we will take a walking tour in the city centre starting with St Wenceslaus Cathedral and ending at the UNESCO monument of the Holy Trinity Baroque Column.
